Wednesday Notes

Today we learned about intersecting, parallel, and perpendicular lines in math class. Lines that intersect can be perpendicular if the intersecting of those lines creates right angles.

Perpendicular lines must intersect. Otherwise, the lines would not meet to form the right angles.

Parallel lines exist in the same plane. They never touch each other and always maintain the same distance apart from each other.

In science we studied the anatomy of our crayfish. We were able to learn that of the 6 crayfish we studied today, three were male and three were female. The basic structures of the male and female crayfish are shown below.

Homework:
Read chapter 6 in The Big Bike Race and complete the "What's Your View" sheet for Sonny's, Grandma's, and Ernest's perspective on the story so far.
Complete spelling homework for Friday.

Seed Parts

The last two days we've been working with lima beans. To test how much water a seed will absorb we measured the seeds weight dry, then let them soak over night. We drained the excess water and measured the soaked seed. The seeds doubled (or more) in weight. Afterwards we split the seeds open to see what was inside. Below is a picture of our notes.
